The competitive cycling sport of mountain bike racing is a sport held on off-road terrains and in celebration of the 9th Araw ng Dicklum they hosted their 1st Mountain Bike Circuit Race on May 19 as part of the celebration of their Kaumahan Festival. Organized by Jun Alombro and Niel Ladao the one-day event was a competitive yet friendly affair which pushed the bikers to challenge themselves to the limit.
Set on a 2.5-kilometer track the bikers coming all the way from Talakag, Kalilangan, Tagoloan, Cagayan de Oro, Malaybalay and of course, Manolo Fortich biked their way through several laps of the path set at the BRCI at Brgy. Dicklum. Categories included the Women’s category, Fat Boys, Golden Boys, Executives, Beginners (aged 24 years old and below), Veterans (aged 25 to 39 years old), Masters aged (40 to 49 years old), Fun Ride, and an Open Elite category.

Seeing the bikers pedalling their way to the finish line while having fun and cheering each other on can definitely make an onlooker want to bike. These athletes have so much strength in their legs and muscles. Sports can really take a toll on one’s body so one must be mentally and physically prepared to race. Thanks to the organizers, the sponsors, and everyone who made this event possible, the 1st Mountain Bike Circuit Race was a success! Hopefully, we’ll be racing again next year for the 10th Araw ng Dicklum. See you!
